AZULDE BRITZ

HEAD Bikes SA Sponsored Athlete

I am in my final year of schooling, in between riding obviously! After school, I intend to get my degree in Psychology, specialising in Sport at a later stage, and spend my holidays cycling in Europe. I hope to ride professionally one day and inspire young girls out there to chase their dreams! I started cycling at the age of 9 with my dad and soon the bug bit! I started off mountain biking and have managed to podium in a few XCO and XCM national championships, and I even managed to be the 2016 Youth Marathon National Champion.

In 2017, I was given the opportunity to race XCO in Italy and Germany, which really gave me a clearer insight into what mountain bike racing abroad was like. I was very lucky to be a Guest Rider for the HEAD Ciclo XCO Team, who is based in Germany, and they gave me the opportunity to experience what a team feels like and also provided me with much needed assistance. Towards the end of last year, I decided to shift my focus from mountain biking to road cycling and this is what I have been keeping myself busy with lately.

Earlier this year, I travelled to Spain to take part in the Spanish National Road Race Championships and then travelled to Netherlands where I took part in the Omloop van Borsele Junior Nations Cup. I was very privileged to guest ride for Team RYGTER, powered by Cyceltoj-Online.dk, a Denmark-based team. They provided me with endless support and guidance and I am ever grateful to them! Fact, when I am not busy with school work or cycling, I am probably out with friends feasting on much craved Peppermint Crisp Tart or Cheesecake with a good cup of tea.
